Exercising safely at home

Exercise prescribed by your therapist works best when it is done regularly and correctly.
Safe-practice checklist
- Warm up with a few minutes of gentle movement
- Move within a comfortable range—mild effort is fine, sharp pain is a signal to stop
- Breathe normally; do not hold your breath
- Increase repetitions slowly and keep a simple exercise diary
- Tell your physiotherapist if an exercise makes symptoms worse
If you feel dizzy, short of breath or have chest pain, stop and seek medical help.
